For the Love of Horses

Because horses aren't just a hobby. They're a lifestyle.

If you're a horse person, you know. There's just something about horses that stays with you.

I rode when I was younger, and although life eventually took me in other directions, my love for horses never went away. These days, I'm experiencing the equestrian world from a different perspective—as a horse-show mom!

And let me tell you, being a horse-show mom is an adventure all its own.

Between lessons, horse shows, early mornings, packing, unpacking, and trying to remember everything you need, there's never a dull moment. And just when you think you have everything figured out, something else gets added to the shopping list!

But I wouldn't trade it. There's nothing quite like watching your child do something they absolutely love, especially when horses are involved.

How The Equestrian Lifestyle Began

The idea for The Equestrian Lifestyle came from a combination of things: my lifelong love of horses, my experiences as a horse-show mom, and realizing how difficult it can be to shop for English riding essentials in the Huntsville, Alabama area.

As far as I knew, there wasn't a dedicated English tack shop nearby.

That meant shopping online, guessing at sizes, waiting for deliveries, and sometimes discovering that something didn't fit quite the way we'd hoped.

And when you need something for a horse show that's only a few days away? Well, you know how that goes!

I kept thinking how nice it would be to have somewhere local to shop for English riding apparel, tack, and accessories. Somewhere you could actually see products, ask questions, try things on, and find what you need without always having to order from somewhere else.

Eventually, I decided to create it myself.

And that's how The Equestrian Lifestyle began.

More Than Just a Tack Shop

From the beginning, I've wanted The Equestrian Lifestyle to be more than just another place to buy riding equipment.

I want it to feel personal.

Whether you're shopping online, visiting my in-home boutique, or finding me at a local horse show, I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, exploring products, and finding things that work for you and your horse.

I'm always learning, too. That's one of the wonderful things about horses—no matter how long you've been around them, there's always something new to discover.

I also believe in supporting our local equestrian community. The barns, trainers, riders, families, and small businesses around us are what make this lifestyle so special.

So, What's The Equestrian Edit?

I'm so glad you asked!

I created this blog as a place to share a little bit of everything that comes with loving horses.

We'll talk about riding apparel, tack, horse care, helmet fitting, horse-show preparation, and all those little things that make barn life easier.

But I also want to share the fun side of being an equestrian.

The early mornings, the friendships, the horse-show chaos, the never-ending laundry, and the fact that our horses somehow manage to have more expensive wardrobes than we do.

And let's not forget those moments when a 1,000-pound animal decides that a perfectly harmless leaf is absolutely terrifying.

Because sometimes you need helpful advice, and sometimes you just need a good laugh.

One of my favorite things about the equestrian world is that everyone has a story.

Some of us have been riding since childhood. Some discovered horses later in life. Some are raising the next generation of riders, and others simply love being around these incredible animals.
